Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes is banned in all enclosed public areas and certain outdoor public areas under the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000 and the Smoke-free Environment Regulation 2016 to protect people from harmful second-hand tobacco smoke.

The NSW Ministry of Health website provides further information about the Smoke-free laws

The NSW Health Smoke-free Health Care Policy mandates that NSW Health facilities, vehicles and grounds are smoke-free.

The aim of this policy is to reduce the risks to health associated with tobacco use by patients, staff and visitors to NSW Health facilities and reduce the community's exposure to second-hand smoke.
