Meet Nurse Carolyn Lloyd

Carolyn Lloyd has been living on Bundjalung country for almost 4 years, caretaking and regenerating 44 acres whilst working as the Immunisation Coordinator and Clinical Nurse Consultant for the Northern NSW Local Health District. Carolyn spent 6 months in Sierra Leone responding to the Ebola outbreak. She is a former Remote Area Nurse, who has worked the majority of her career in remote areas of the Northern Territory and QLD. She also worked as a lecturer in Public Health and Tropical Medicine at James Cook University, with a focus on teaching Health Promotion and Remote and Rural Primary Health Care. Carolyn is passionate about the provision of free and equitable health care for all of society, and the role of Policy & Governance in creating a society that supports and maintains health external to acute care services. Carolyn is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Health Promotion), Bachelor of Nursing (Child, Youth and Family Health) and a Master of Public Health. She is currently studying Clinical Epidemiology. Carolyn was awarded a Humanitarian Service Medal. She is an introvert in an extroverts job.

Meet Professor John Kaldor

John Kaldor is a Senior Principal Research Fellow and UNSW Scientia Professor. He holds a doctorate in Biostatistics from the University of California. Berkeley, and began his research career at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France. With over 750 peer reviewed scientific publications that have been cited collectively over 30,000 times, Professor Kaldor has been a highly influential contributor to public health knowledge. Professor Kaldor is a past President of the Australasian Epidemiological Association. The ocean, the bush and the local culture have drawn Professor Kaldor to the Northern Rivers for many years, and he has recently managed to spend more and more time at his home in the region. As a researcher, he sees his role as both producing new knowledge, and making sure everyone has access to credible information about disease prevention that allows them to make the best possible decisions about their health.
